Observable Electron EDM and Leptogenesis

چکیده

In the context of the minimal supersymmetric seesaw model, the CP-violating neutrino Yukawa couplings might induce an electron EDM. The same interactions may also be responsible for the generation of the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe via leptogenesis. We identify in a model-independent way those patterns within the seesaw models which predict an electron EDM at a level probed by planned laboratory experiments and show that negative searches on τ → eγ decay may provide the strongest upper bound on the electron EDM. We also conclude that a possible future detection of the electron EDM is incompatible with thermal leptogenesis, even when flavour effects are accounted for. ∗ [email protected] § [email protected][email protected]

Electron EDM and soft leptogenesis in supersymmetric B − L extension of the standard model

We analyze the connection between electric dipole moment of the electron and the soft leptogenesis in supersymmetric B−L extension of the standard model. In this model, the B−L symmetry is radiatively broken at TeV scale. Therefore, it is a natural framework for low scale seesaw mechanism and also for implementing the soft leptogenesis. We show that the phases of trilinear soft SUSY breaking co...

Sensitivity of the baryon asymmetry produced by leptogenesis to low energy CP violation

If the baryon asymmetry of the Universe is produced by leptogenesis, CP violation is required in the lepton sector. In the seesaw extension of the Standard Model with three hierarchical righthanded neutrinos, we show that the baryon asymmetry is insensitive to the PMNS phases: thermal leptogenesis can work for any value of the observable phases. This result was well-known when there are no flav...

From weak-scale observables to leptogenesis

Thermal leptogenesis is an attractive mechanism for generating the baryon asymmetry of the Universe. However, in supersymmetric models, the parameter space is severely restricted by the gravitino bound on the reheat temperature TRH . For hierarchical light neutrino masses, it is shown that thermal leptogenesis can work when TRH ∼ 10 GeV. The lowenergy observable consequences of this scenario ar...

Electric Dipole Moments in the MSSM at Large tan β

Within the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), the large tanβ regime can lead to important modifications in the pattern of CP-violating sources contributing to low energy electric dipole moments (EDMs). In particular, four-fermion CP-violating interactions induced by Higgs exchange should be accounted for alongside the constituent EDMs of quarks and electrons. To this end, we present ...

Phenomenological Consequences of Soft Leptogenesis

Soft supersymmetry breaking terms involving heavy singlet sneutrinos can be the dominant source of leptogenesis. The relevant range of parameters is different from standard leptogenesis: a lighter Majorana mass, M . 10 GeV (allowing a solution of the gravitino problem), and smaller Yukawa couplings, YN . 10 . We investigate whether the various couplings of the singlet sneutrinos, which are cons...
